Preparation
Especially for brides the preparations on the day of the wedding are a very important part of the overall experience of the day.

The bride's location is usually a hive of activity with bride, bridesmaids, parents and children all making their final preparations for the wedding. Hair must be fixed, make-up applied, dresses and jewellery put on, presents opened, greeting cards read, flowers sorted etc., and with final discussions on who does what and when.
The groom's location on the day is also quite busy, with the groom, best man, ushers and the groom's father all struggling into unfamiliar suits, tying cravats, fitting cuff-links, securing flowers to lapels etc...
The groom will sometimes arrange to meet friends and guests at a nearby pub for a steadying drink before moving off for the ceremony.
Religious Ceremonies
For a religious ceremony we like to attend the wedding rehearsal to introduce ourselves to the minister and, with his or her agreement, decide on where to locate our cameras and microphones to obtain the best pictures and sound during the service.

We pay particular attention to capturing the wedding vows as clearly as possible - with a microphone close enough to hear the vows despite the best efforts of cousin Sarah's new baby trying to drown out the proceedings!
We always use two cameras to ensure good viewpoints throughout the service, including any readings from side lecterns, or singing by the choir during the signing of the register and of course the final procession of the bride and groom through the church after the signing of the register.
Civil Ceremonies

For a civil ceremony there isn't usually an opportunity for a rehearsal but we do visit the venue ahead of the ceremony to decide on the placement of cameras and microphones for best pictures and sound, including the filming of the readings and shots of any musicians providing background music for the ceremony.
Again we pay special attention to the recording of the vows, the exchanging of rings, and the signing of the register by the bride, groom and witnesses.
Photocall
We work unobtrusively alongside the Photographer in the photo session immediately following the ceremony, and this is the first opportunity for guests to congratulate the bride and groom, and also perhaps a first opportunity for guests to meet other guests they may not have seen for many years.

So, over and above the filming of the photographer at work, we look for informal shots of groups of guests chatting, children playing, and guests talking with the bride or groom, at the same time making sure we capture footage of the many outfits, hats and dresses on display at the wedding.
One of our camera operators will stay at the ceremony location to film the departure of the bride and groom, whilst the other drives to the Breakfast venue to carry out final checks and be ready to film the bride and groom as they arrive.
Wedding Breakfast
Frequently there is a second photo session at the Breakfast venue, especially where photo opportunities after the ceremony are limited.

Again we work alongside the photographer to capture the atmosphere as guests meet and chat, perhaps now with a drink and nibbling canapés and generally enjoying the occasion.
We especially look out for artistic filming opportunities where movement adds an extra dimension to the shot, such as the bride and groom strolling together on a lawn or embracing in front of a fountain or waterfall.
We then film the line-up, the cutting of the cake and the speeches, but we don't usually film during the meal itself unless entertainment has been laid on at the tables such as cards tricks by a table magician, or where the desert is a chocolate fountain and we can film some delightful shots of children with faces and hands covered in chocolate (this applies to some of the adults too!).
In the short break before the evening session we can film groups of newly-arrived evening guests chatting in the bar.
Evening Reception

The evening reception is an opportunity for the bride and groom to relax after the more formal parts of the day.
We film the first dance of the bride and groom, dancing to one of their favourite records, then we film the DJ, band and some general dances, so that we can re-create the party atmosphere of the evening session on the video.
Video Messages

During the evening reception we can also record video messages from guests to the bride and groom.
